Slope stability analysis is an important topic in the field of geotechnical engineering. With the progress of science and technology, large-scale engineering construction activity has become increasingly active. At the same time, the complex environment and geological conditions of the engineering field made the slope stability problem which is closely related to the project construction become more and more important. For example, road engineering, water conservancy project and large open-air mining engineering. Because large open pit slope has a series of characteristics, such as a large scale, containing more strata, complicated tectonic geology condition, varied lithology, the weathering of the rock mass, the slope stability analysis is difficult.A lot of domestic and foreign documents and monographs which are related to the slope stability analysis were read. Taking the Fushun west open pit mine south slope as the research object, the engineering geological condition was analyzed; the slope deformation was monitored dynamically. Based on determining the mechanics parameters of the rock mass by experiment, the mechanism of the slope deformation was analyzed, the whole south unstable slop was evaluated by using the analytic hierarchy process, the stability and deformation process of the E400 and E1200 profiles which have serious surface deformation were calculated and simulated by the limit equilibrium analysis method and the finite element strength subtraction method. Finally, the stability of the slope was analyzed. In the finite element strength subtraction method, the finite element analysis software ANSYS was applied, the slope’s internal visual two-dimensional numerical model about displacement and stress was established.In the end, practice and theory were combined. Based on the practical geological conditions of the Fushun west open pit mine south slope, the management plan that was to place backfill presser foot first, hydrophobic and drainage engineering second was proposed. More than that, the stability of the slope which was governed was calculated by the limit equilibrium analysis method and the finite element strength subtraction method.
