In this paper, the application of electromagnetic pulse forming technology to make the aluminum tube and steel tube together was studied. Through the study of electromagnetic pulse forming method with field shaper, the efficiency of pipe forming and the energy needed to connect tube were improved. To improve the connection strength of aluminum tube and steel tube, structure form of inner tube?inner tube joint stiffness?clearance between inner and outer tube and the discharge voltage were studied to know the influence of the connection strength. The influence of field shaper structure?energy parameter that is discharge voltage and clearance between inner and outer tube to the uniformity of connection joint were studied.Using the finite element software ANSYS/LS-DYNA withmany physical fields and nonlinear characteristics to build 3D finite element model and also using the numerical simulation method of loose coupling node force, the movement of outer tube in the process of tube electromagnetic pulse connection was studied. Through the impact on the formability of field shaper structure with finite element simulation analysis and free forming process analysis with no inner tube connection, the influence of field shaper's gap to forming was explored and the size of field shaper's gap was optimized.Auniformity criterion method of tubeformingwas used to study the discharge voltage?the clearance between tub?gap width of field shaper and other process parameters to influence the joint uniformity of electromagnetic pulse connection with inner tube. The process parameters were optimized.Using the finite element numerical simulation method and experiment method, structure form of inner tube?clearance between inner and outer tube and the discharge voltagewere studied to know the influence of the connection strength.Combining the uniformity effect of connection tube, the influence of forming was studied with different inner tube structure such as the straight joint?oblique joint? down inclined joint, single groove joint and double groove joint.A overall uniformity criterion method??0.2 was used to get a reasonable tube clearance. And searching for better connection effect in the form of these joint was explored.The general equation of critical wall thickness has been got by deducing the differential equations of equilibriumanddifferential equation of the plastic deformation. And according to the parameters in the general equation and in combination with numerical simulation analysis, the influence of the wall thickness of the deformation area was explored; the effects of discharge voltage tocritical wall thickness was studied; the relation between inside tube critical wall thickness and collision speed of inner and outer tube was studied within a given system parameters of electromagnetic pulse forming and diameter size of outside tube; the influence of clearance between inner and outer tube to critical wall thickness was studied.
