Stress is the fundamental acting force that causes deformation and destruction of surrounding rock and supporting and occurrence of mine dynamic disasters. In response to phenomenon that coal and gas outburst took place frequently near faults tectonic in Jiulishan coal mine, stress distribution feature near fault tectonic region inJiulishan was systematically researched,and the effection of tectonic stress on coal and gas outburst was analyzed. By means of analyzing structure and mechanical causes of fault in theory and calculating viariation of stresses after and before formation of faults, the paper got the characteristics of stress field after and before after and before formation of faults in Jiulishan coal field. By using the stress relief method in measuring the crustal stress, the paper got the direction and magnitude of stress in Jiulishan coal mine. Three-dimensional finite difference geological model are developed based on the fault structure in Jiulishan field. According to the measuring result of ground stress, using Flac3 D to numerical simulation. Based on the above analysis, stress distribution was divided into stress-concentrated area, stress-relaxed area and stress-gradient area. At last,by compareing the stress regionalism and coal and gas outburst prominent area,the paper studied the relation between coal and gas outburst and tectonic stress. The sesearch result provided reference to coal and gas outburst prevention and control in Jiulishan coal mine.
