Membrane process is an innovative technology in field of gas separation. It has many advantages, such as low energy cost, high separation efficiency and easy operating. Membrane materials with excellent performance are the core of the membrane separation technology. Carbon membrane is a novel inorganic membrane and has superior selectivity in gas separation and has widely potential application in gas separation field. Using membrane materials to prepare a high packing density, simple structure, easier amplification membrane module is the premise of engineering application. The kind of gas separation membrane modules-includes spiral, tubular, plate and frame-type and hollow fiber membrane module. The spiral wound membrane module has many advantages of membrane pollution control, simple operation, high packing density and high permeation flux, and it is more attractive in membrane industrial application. Research group on carbon membrane and porous carbon materials has invented a flexible spiral-wound carbon membrane, which solved the problems of poor mechanical property and non-flexibility on traditional carbon membrane. In order to accelerating the industrialized application of spiral-wound carbon membrane, the preparation of membrane module prepared by the spiral-wound carbon membrane has been researched in this paper.In this paper, the binder was investigated first. The binder was selected by studying the curing time of binder, air tightness, peeling strength, and gas permeation. Then the relation between the diameter and the related position parameters was calculated. The position of the membrane films, nets etc. could be determined. A suitable spiral-wound membrane preparation method was studied in this paper and the membrane module for gas separation was prepared.The results indicated that one-component polyurethane binder have long curing time, high air tightness, high peel strength and non-penetration of gas. The best performance binder to prepare spiral-wound carbon membrane module is one-component polyurethane. The cross sectional area of membrane module increases 1592 mm2 with every increased one membrane pocket. Then the diameter data of membrane modules with different numbers of membrane pocket can be obtained, and the dislocation can be calculated. The weight of the binder with the change of curing time rises first and then goes down, combined with the binder curing mechanism analysis, the rolling time of membrane module should be less than one hour. One-component polyurethane binder for the wetting property of spiral-wound carbon membrane is better than that of polymer membranes, therefore the effect of one-component polyurethane binder for adhering spiral-wound carbon membrane better than a polymer membrane. When the mixture of methane and carbon dioxide preparation, according to both the concentration of methane gas mass flow rate obtained with the x(%), completed the preparation of mixed gas concentration of methane is y(%), Relationship between x and y is:y =0.9198x+0.0389. The use of formulated mixture of the gas produced membrane permeability test results is reasonable. The same selectivity between the spiral-wound carbon membrane and the related membrane module implies that the preparation of the membrane module prepared by the spiral-wound carbon membranes is feasible.
