As a kind of smart materials, electrorheological fluid(ER fluid) presents novel properties that the rheological performances were controlled by the application of electric field. It has showed extensive potential engineering application, and has received much attention in academic research.Based on that the core-shell structure can regulate the performance of ER composite, the core-shell polyaniline/quinacridone were synthesized by emulsion polymerization. The molecular structure,morphology, thermal properties were characterized, The ER effect of polyaniline/quinacridone composite particles were investigated,then the impact of factors affecting the behavior of ER performance were analyzed. The results show that:(1) The polyaniline/quinacridone composite particle as a core- shell structures, the particle size of the composite as a nano-level, average size of the particle < 500 nm, thickness of the coating layer < 50 nm. The honeycomb coating layer can improved the dielectric properties and change the ER effects of the ER fluid.(2) The silicone suspensions of nano-honeycomb polyaniline/quinacridone has a significant ER effect. In the role of electric field, the stress and the viscosity of the system will increasing with the increased electric field.(3) The relationship of its dynamic yield stress and static yield stress with the electric field of the polyaniline/quinacridone particles suspensions was investigated and found that they are in good match of the formula: ?y ? E2.(4) When the composite particle concentration increased or enhanced external electric field, the storage modulus(G') system and the loss modulus(G'') will increase, and the difference between them is also growing, indicating the degree of polarization and polarization in the system rate will increase with the concentration of the electric field enhancement or improved.(5) The ER effect was enhanced with the concentration elevated in the polyaniline/quinacridone in the silicone suspensions of nano-honeycomb polyaniline/quinacridone, the polarization rate of ER fluid is also becomes faster.
