Just like other garment materials?denim fabrics will also tend to be functional andfashionable in the future. Technologies used in other coating fields can be applied to theprocessing of denim fabrics. As more and more denim coating fabrics are being used?how tocontrol the coating effect on the denim fabrics has become a big problem. To get a deep insightinto this problem, with orthogonal experiments, studies were made of the effect of four factors ondenim coating, namely the base cloth weight of denim fabrics?the desizing degree of basecloth,post-coating baking temperature and baking time length. To eliminate the cross-impact from coating agent? several formulas were selected fromexisting coating agents of the factory and distemper was added. By experiments on white cottoncloth, a coating agent with excellent effect and outstanding fastness was selected and used insubsequent experiments. To analyze the experimental materials, four experimental methods were designed in theprocess, namely tests on color fastness to dry and wet rubbing?Martin wear-resisting tests?weightloss experiments in gram respectively before and after washing? and hand feeling and visualinspection experiments. As no significant experimental effect was achieved by hand feeling andvisual inspection experiments? this experimental method was regarded to be ineffective. However?evaluating effect?to some extent? was achieved by tests on color fastness to dry andwet rubbing?Martin wear-resisting tests?and weight loss experiments in gram respectively beforeand after washing. What's more?data from the three experiments mutually corresponded. Withorthogonal experiments?the optimal techniques under given factory conditions were obtained?shown as follows: weight in gram of base cloth (A4)145.80g/m2? desizing degree of base cloth(B4)100%? baking temperature (C4)170?? and baking time length (D1)2min. Besides?according to analysis of the orthogonal experiment results? the weight in gram and desizingdegree of base cloth exerted a significant effect on the coating of denim fabrics? while bakingtemperature and baking time length had insignificant effect on the coating of denim fabrics. After analysis of orthogonal experiment data?it was believed that baking temperature andbaking time length had no significant effect on the coating of denim fabrics. Therefore? theorthogonal experiment data could be used to analyze the effect of single factor on the coating ofdenim fabrics. The effect of desizing degree of base cloth on the coating of denim fabrics followedthis trend: where other conditions remained unchanged? the higher in desizing degree of basecloth?the better in fastness of the coating of denim fabrics? in other words? a better effect wasachieved on the coating of denim fabrics. However?the effect of weight in gram of base clothfollowed a binomial curve trend: where other conditions remained unchanged? within the givenlaboratory scope of gram?the coating fastness of denim fabrics rose first and then fell with theincrease in the weight in gram of the base cloth.
