After the 21 st century,with the progress of science and technology,people gradually realize the importance and urgency of marine research.The increasing marine observation instruments and means make acquiring long temporal series of marine scalar data possible,providing opportunities for researchers to study the dynamic evolution of the marine.As one of the basic properties of ocean water masses,the spatial and temporal distribution of sea temperature had been almost monitored by indirect means because of being deficient in observed data before.The implementation of Argo program increases the measured temperature and salinity data,making the monitoring of temporal changes in temperature available.A major characteristic of marine is its spatial and temporal changing,therefore marine spatial and temporal process changing is an important aspect of the study on marine.This paper introduces the time dimention into the research of spatial and temporal process.The observation of spatial and temporal process depends on human's eyes,so it is of great significance to develop the methods to realize the visualization.Main contents of this paper are as following.This paper focuses on spatial and temporal analysis and visualization methods of sea temperature.This paper explains the necessity to study the methods of spatial and temporal process visualization,and introduces the reasearch status both in domestic and abroad.This paper introduces the conceptions about spational and temporal process,and explains the principles of the methods to realize spatial and temporal process visualization.This paper uses ArcEngine as its development kit,SQL Server 2008 R2 database as the backend database.Ocean temperature data was extracted by reading Argo data in NetCDF.This paper uses GIS as a visual frame to provide the visualization of South China Sea temperature field,operations such as zooming in,zooming out or dragging on the visual map,drawing the corresponding numerical display images in various forms,and spatial anqlysis such as a variety of curves,querying data,spatial interpolation and contour.Moreover,with the extracted South China Sea temperature field data,and based on.Net Framework and Arcgis server platform,the framework and model of South China Sea temperature field spatial and temporal process visualization were researched.The methods of temperature inquiry at any point temperature,the process curve drawing of any random point on the visual map and the visualization of the polygon process based on Web Service were researched.Based on the results of the spatial and temporal process visualization of South China Sea by means of GIS,this paper analyzed temperature spatial and temporal characteristics of South China Sea from four aspects,including South China Sea temperature annual changes,temperature changes along with the change of latitude,vertical sea temperature changes,seasonal distribution of sea temperature,and obtained the potential regular of South China Sea temperature.
