Kerogen is divided into three different types according to its source,composition and structure.Vitrinite is a kind of rich oxyen composition,which belongs to the kerogen of type ?.Most vitrinite in kerogen of type?&? is disseminated by asphalt and other macerals,which leads to a lower reflectance.This phenomenon is called‘suppression'.In the current vitrinite reflectance test,kerogen sample is made after chloroform extraction or without any processing,which means that the straight-chain alkanes groups in them have not been completely removed.And this has resulted in the Ro can't match the actual evolution of a hydrocarbon source rock sample.In this study a strong polar organic solvent is used to carry out the second extraction for kerogens under different conditions,and compared them with those only extracted by chloroform on their vitrinite reflectance.The soluble fraction has been analyzed and has been got its relationship with vitrinite reflectance.And that's also a method to remove the hydrogen rich composition which causes the ‘suppression'.The change of vitrinite reflectance reflects the thermal evolution process of kerogen,which is mainly controlled by temperature and time,or other factors.In this paper,several thermal simulation tests under different boundary conditions are designed to give kerogen in the different stages of evolution.And their vitrinite reflectance is also tested,in order to explore the influence and meaning of boundary conditions on its evolution.
