Geological Characteristics And Strategic Zoning Of Copper Deposits Along "The Belt And Road"

The identified reserves of copper of "the Belt and Road " accounts for approximately 18%that of the world,mainly distributing in Russia,Indonesia,Mongolia,Kazakhstan,China,Iran etc."The Belt and Road" is a very important area for China to use the foreign copper resources.By analysis of the geological characteristics of the 98 large copper deposits of "the Belt and Road",and by multiple evaluation of 23 main copper deposits concentrated zone,the new understanding and new ideas have been received:1.The copper deposits of "the Belt and Road" are mainly divided into 8 types:porphyry type,skam type,volcanic type,sand-shale type,magmatic type,hydrothermal type metamorphic and superimposed type.2.On the basis of the regional tectonic setting and the distribution characteristics of copper deposits,34 copper ore belts are divided out along the routes of "the Belt and Road ",including Central-southern Ural,Balkhash-Junggar,Armenia-Turkey,Baluchistan,Southeast Mongolia,Middle-lower reaches of the Yangtze River,Gangdise,Pulong-pop,Philippines,etc.3.According to both of characteristics of copper mineral resources,and exploration-development potential of copper deposits,including 8 indexes(the quantity of large copper deposits,reserves of copper resources,types of copper deposits,quantities of copper ore belts,relationship between deposit-hosted country and China,space distance from China,political stability,and mining investment environment),23 copper ore belts of 18 countries are evaluated.Eight copper ore belts,including Balkhash-Junggar,Baluchistan,Armenia-Turkey,Udokan,Norilsk,Central-southern Ural,Southeast Mongolia and Grasberg,are suggested the priority areas for Chinese enterprises to cooperate exploration and development,and seven countries(Russia,Kazakhstan,Mongolia,India,Indonesia,Iran and Laos)are promoted as the priority cooperative countries.
