In real life, there are many different systems, and the structures of these systems are generally complicate. The research of complex networks has attracted much attention of scientists in recent years. The study of cooperative behavior on complex networks is favored by most researchers.Cooperation is important in the real world ranging from ecological to social systems. However, according to Darwinian theory, individuals are selfish,in generally, they usually tend to care more about their own benefits than those of the group(cooperative behavior). The research on cooperative behavior that exists in society becomes more significant.Game theory provides a tool for studying the emergence and maintenance of cooperative behavior. The study of game theory on complex networks becomes more and more popular. As a key step in the evolution process, the selection of the learning before the strategy imitation has important influence on the evolution of system cooperation. In previous studies, individuals usually choose one from their neighbors randomly for strategy learning. In real life, when individuals make major decisions, they usually consider their own historical experiences. Therefore, the introduction of memory mechanism is important in the study of complex system evolution. In this paper,we introduce preferential selection mechanism based on strategy persistence and memory into the prisoner’s dilemma game model, and study the evolution of cooperation on regular lattices. We set a preference parameter in the model to control the probability of all individuals in the system choosing different types of neighbors during strategy imitation. The introduction of memory length allows the individual to save the change of the neighbor’s strategy. We studied the influence of the preference parameter on the evolution of cooperation.Under the same preference parameter, the change of memory length affects the level of cooperation. The results also show that the optimal memory length can maximize the cooperation level at the specific preference parameter.Under the condition that the preference parameter is greater than 0,there exists an optimal memory length that makes the level of cooperation reach its maximum. When the preference parameter is less than 0,the introduction of memory mechanism doesn’t improve the cooperation level. The introduction of memory makes the level of cooperation tend to gradually evolve without memory. We also studied the model on other types of lattice and by using other payoff matrices and found the results unchanged.
