In this paper the geothermal anomaly area of Hebei Plain is taken as the research focus.By analyzing the geological structure characteristics of the study area,the evolution characteristics of the mantle subheat column,the temperature field,the geothermal heat flow and the geothermal resource distribution,Geothermal heat source and the theory of mantle branch structure.Because the Hebei Plain belongs to the subsidence area,it is a Mesozoic-Cenozoic subsidence basin on the North China platform.The landform is flat and simple,but it is a very complex subsidence basin.The distribution of geothermal anomalies in the study area is mainly NNE and NEE,mainly distributed in the areas of Miyun-Xifengkou large fault,Huairou-Laishu-deep fault,Dingxing-Shijiazhuang deep fault,Xingtai-Anyang deep fault and so on.The deep mantle uplift area,due to the surface subsidence and the strong uplift of the mantle,in the North China mantle sub-column upward uplift process accompanied by thinning of the thickness of the lithosphere and the thickness of the mantle from the top of the hot column soon by60 ~ 80 km thick to 80 ~ 120 km,and the lithosphere thickness of 120 ~ 160 km in the northern Yanshan Mountain and the western Taihang Mountain area of the study area provides a good geological background for the formation of geothermal anomaly area in the study area.In this study,the geothermal heat source of the Hebei Plain was determined by studying the migration and distribution of the mantle subheat column in North China by using the mantle branch structure theory of Professor Niu Shuyin.The results show that the main heat source in the Hebei Plain is the heat generated by the mantle sub-thermal column and the radiative elements in the crust.The more developed faulted structures provide a convenient channel for geothermal fluids.
