There are huge geothermal resources in China, including low to high temperature geothermal resources.Compared to high temperature geothermal resource, the low to medium geothermal resource is rich in reserve, wide in distribution and cost-effective for exploration. In recent years, more attentions have been paid on low to medium geothermal resource as the demand for cleaner energy keeps increasing. To study on the water-rock interation, the chemical components and its evolution of thermal water,is of great significance for analyzing the genesis and utilization of geothermal system. This paper analyzes chemical composition and hydrogen and oxygen isotope characteristics of nitric hot springs in southern Jiangxi region, briefly discusses the characteristics of water chemical composition, calculates the recharge elevation of hot springs, which ranges between 840m-1106 m.The complicated relationship between the high pH value and sulfate, carbonate of nitric hot springs is calculated using hydro-geochemical simulated software PHREEQC2.15 and wateq4 f.dat database. The equilibrium states between the nitric hot springs and secondary mineral components(such as carbonate, fluoride, etc.)is evaluated. The lower TDS of nitric geothermal waters under conditions of the strong and continuous water-rock interaction in geothermal systems is attributed to the dynamic equilibrium of ‘precipitation-dissolution' in hot groundwater system. The geothermal reservoir temperature is estimated as ranging from 80? to 120? and the circulation depth of geothermal waters is calculated to be ranging between 1670 m and 2030 m for the nitricn hot springs. The genesis models are discussed briefly by taking the Rucheng hot springs which has the highest temperature for instance. All the above-mentioned studies provide the references and bases for the future utilization and development of the nitric hot springs in southern Jiangxi Province.
