Micro pattern gaseous detectors are widely applied in kinds of experimental research with respect to the domain of particle physics, nuclear physics and apply technique. Both fundamental research and physical application require the technique of particle discrimination. Therefore,we develop a technique with respect to the particle discrimination which takes advantage of the temporal information of different kinds of signals.Firstly,we tried to discriminate X-rays and cosmic muons experimentally based on a triple-GEM detector. The result shows that 97% of cosmic muons can be discriminated from X-rays,which validates this technique. This technique can be also used for discrimination between general charged particles and photons. Moreover,it can improve the quality of data and the accuracy of tracking.Secondly,we designed a new hybrid detector which consists of double GEMs and Micromegas in order to improve the discriminating capability.A simulation with respect to the performance of this new detector was done by using Garfield++.The result shows that the new hybrid detector has sufficiently decreased rise time and improve the discriminating capability.Furthermore,it has better time and space resolution than the triple-GEM detector and optimizes the discharge probability and ion feedback comparing with stand-alone Micromegas. It is an easy-manufactured and promising type of micro pattern gaseous detectors.
