With the rapid development of computer technology, ray tracing technology has become one of the main methods to solve the electromagnetic problems in complex environment, because of its high computational efficiency, easy programming and wide application. In ray tracing technology, the traditional Shooting and Bouncing Ray Tracing (SBR) method has low accuracy, so it cannot be used alone in the environment which require high precision. In addition,although the accuracy of the image method is very high, the computational efficiency of the image method decreases sharply with the increase of the number of planes and diffraction edges in the environment. Therefore, the image method cannot be applied to the large-scale complex electromagnetic problems. As a consequence, it is of great significance to put forward the ray tracing algorithm with high efficiency and high precisions to solve the electromagnetic problem in large-scale complex environment.This paper propose a SBR/Image hybrid algorithm based on LLS/LSP hybrid ray tube models, based on the analysis of the principle, advantages and disadvantages of the SBR method and the image method. The hybrid algorithm uses the Launching from Line Segment (LLS) ray tubes model to trace the diffracted rays, and presents the sampling analysis and diffraction-edge segmentation algorithm for the analysis of high order diffraction paths. Then, the hybrid algorithm proposes the use of the ordered table lookup algorithm to help the coordinate calculation of the diffraction points for the three order and above the diffraction calculation characteristics.Then, the hybrid algorithm also uses the traditional Launching from Source Point (LSP) ray tubes model, so this paper also introduces the whole process of the hybrid algorithm. Besides, the ray emission, ray tracing and ray receiving phase of SBR algorithm are analyzed. In addition, some acceleration algorithms of rays are applied to the hybrid algorithm. Besides,according to the requirements of acceleration technology, the treatment of buildings and terrain is analyzed.At last, this paper make use of the simulation platform provided by the laboratory to complete the code implementation of the SBR/Image hybrid algorithm based on LLS/LSP hybrid ray tube models. At the same time, in order to verify the accuracy and speed of the hybrid algorithm, this paper utilizes the simulation plane to manually set up a number of suitable scenarios for simulation.
