The upper Yellow River(Lijia gorges to Gongbo gorges)is located in the Tibet Plateau.The areas affected by topography,rock and soil characteristics,fault activity,river erosion and other factors.The fragile geological environment,erosion and the landslide threat life and property of people on both sides of the Yellow River and the upper Yellow River Hydropower Project.Based on the preliminary findings of active faults and geological hazards and collection of related information in the areas,the paper analyzed distribution of active faults and developmental characteristics of landslide hazard.The paper get the landslide susceptibility area and dangerous area in the research area by GIS software with the the method of AHP model.The paper gets the preliminary conclusion as follow:(1)The paper explores the geological environment and the control elements and the predisposing factors which have effects the formation of the landslide in research areas.The research areas located in northeast Tibet Plateau which have the most complex structural system.The factors that affect Landslide disasters are topography(elevation and slope),ground conditions,active faults,hydrogeology and the predisposing factors include rainfall and earthquake.(2)The relevance between active fault and landslide.There are main four faults in research area: Lajishan fault,Wendudasi fault,Jishishan fault,DA fault,the number of the landslide in research area is 397.The paper analyzes the distance effect,upper plate/lower plate effect and the earthquake effect.(3)Stability evaluation on typical landslide,limit equilibrium method display that chahandusi reservoir landslide is under stable state,but dulanghe landslide is under unstable state.(4)We get the landslide susceptibility area and dangerous area in the research area.Susceptibility is based on the factors of the landslides,such as topography(elevation and slope),ground conditions,active faults,hydrogeology and the density of the landslide.We calculate each index's weight by AHP,and then get the overlay calculation based on the GIS platform,at last we get the susceptibility.Based on the result of susceptibility,we select induced factors,such as rainfall and earthquake,then ultimately get the dangerous assessment.
