Artemisia scoparia is in the genus Artemisia of Compositae family, the species is annual or biennial and even perennial. The Artemisia scoparia is a widespread, which spread across France to Japan. It always becomes the single dominant species in the sandlot or crops fields of Songnen Plain.Which often acts as the pioneer of a secondary succession. The Artemisia scoparia is not only have the medical functions but also a good quality pasture. Our experiment is aimed to find the plasticity mechanism of Artemisia scoparia to face different types disturbance in Songnen Plain. We give the depth understanding of the formation of individual life history of Artemisia annual to provide scientific accumulation;also for the restoration and management of degraded Songnen grassland provide a scientific basisWe not only investigated different disturbance habitats and created the artificial construction to disclose the age structure, the module quantitative characteristics and plasticity in natural or artificial population, but also studied the soluble carbohydrate content of the roots in upon population systemically. We finally found the population quantitative characteristics had different plasticity levels or ways to conquer the disturbance.According the results,we can conclude the follow:(1)The population quantitative characteristics has a significantly decreased. There is a trade-off between the seed number and the 1000 grain weight. The plant has more seeds but little 1000 grain weight.Because the Artemisia scoparia have different life-history,so that the delay of planting time has no effect on reproduction allocation(2)The moderate clipping not only can upgrade the population quantitative characteristics but also add the biomass. We also find the soluble carbohydrate content has increased after the moderate clipping. The over-clipping decreased the photosynthetic area of plant which impeded the photosynthesis process.(3)In different disturbance natural population,we find the plant have 3 age classes. And we got the 4 age classes population. There have different age structures in different disturbance habitats. The highest root and taproot life is 4-5yr.(4)In different disturbance natural habitats, the daughter roots often have high soluble carbohydrate content. There has a physiological integration process between the photosynthetic organs and root or taproot in different class seedlings. The adaptability of a species is guaranteeing whether it can survive in a habitat which covered by various disturbance.
