In the process of rapid development of computer technology and graphics, physical simulation technology as a popular direction of graphics is well knew by people, physical simulation is also a research hot areas to graphics researchers around the world. As the computing power of computer is more and more amazing, visual effects and real-time simulation demands are increasingly and will be meet urgently. In order to achieve a rapid, stable and realistic simulation to meet the growing needs of people, how to build a simple and efficient real-time simulation has become a researcher problem to solve. We present a novel technique for simulating deformation of elastic thin shell materials. The framework of Position-Based Dynamics is used in this simulation and the detail of the local deformation can be control directly by volume constraint which improved the constraint solving.Firstly, the geometric model and the elastic physical model of the thin shell are constructed;then construct the stretch constraint and the volume constraint combining the internal ball filling method;finally, based on the position dynamics method and the number of iterations, the deformation intensity and the details of deformation locally can be controlled.Experimental results show that this method is effective, and compared with the explicit Euler method and the implicit Euler method it has higher stability, higher computation efficiency and low computational. The main innovation work of this paper is as follows:1.In this paper,we applied the tetrahedral volume constraint based on the position dynamics method to the sphere,so that the sphere could achieve a realistic deformation effect during the deformation process.Collision detection was carried out by using the sphere method, and handing collision by the tetrahedral volume constraint.2.We proposed a new simulation method that combine volume constraint and sphere packing method to simulate collision of thin shell. The simulation method is based on the advantages of position dynamic method, and the simulation results are more effective. The advantage of our approach is stable, low complexity of the algorithm, fast convergence and can directly control the object deformation.
