Study On The Factors Of Reproductive Investment In Varied Tit(Parus Varius)

Reproductive investment has always been a hot spot of research in bird,Varied Tit(Parus varius)was inter-sexual phenotypic variation,monogamy and high level of extra-pair paternity.The breeding habit makes it being a potentially promising species in reproductive investment.The main results are as follows:(1)Varied Tit is inter-sexual phenotypic variable,but there're a few nuances between male and female.Male's wing length(df=86,t=-4.196,P<0.001)and tail length(df=86,t=-3.263,P=0.002)was significant longer than female's.Male Varied Tit which have EPP their wing length was significant longer than male without EPP(df=37,t=2.385,P=0.023).(2)In 2016,we obtained 40 nests of varied Tit.The clutch size is 4-10,the hatch size is 3-9.The hatching and the fly rate was the highest when the clutch size is 8.The mean weight of nest materials is 37.76±11.7g(n=40).(3)There is no significant difference of feeding rate between male Varied Tit and female Varied Tit(r=1.793,P=0.087,n=23).The results showed that the female feeding rate is negative correlation with male's bill length(df=37,r=-0.464,P=0.039),positive correlation with clutch size,and positive correlation with EPP,thus providing some support for the differential allocation hypothesis and the differential allocation hypothesis.
