In recent years, with the rapid economic growth of our country, the exploitation speed of water resources both on the gound and at subsurface has been increasing yearly in order to meet with an increasing amount of civilan or industrial water uses in some areas. Therefore,a more powerful and reliable numerical simulation method is needed for the exploitation and utilization of water resources subsurface in a more scientific way,and its investigation has been paid more and more attentions by the international community, even though a number of simulation softwares for modeling fluid flow and solute transport underground are available commercially nowadays.Among the numerical simulation methods in computational fluid dynamics(CFD)common used today, the lattice Boltzmann method is one of most effective methods to solve the fluid flow and solute transport problem in porous media. This is because LBM can be used to deal more complex physical problems that are hard,or even impossible to be simulated while using conventional methods. In addition,it has the merits of easy programming and intrinsic parallel computing. In this project the D3Q7-MRT model is used to simulate the ground water problem. The numerical simulations of ground water flow and solute transport problems are performed.According to the characteristics of the physical model of the porous medium,a variety of solution methods are proposed. For the source problem of production/reinjection well, this paper proposed a method dealing with a production/reinjection well that penetrates across a few different aquifers. For the heterogeneous media or two homogenous media with different hydraulic and/or thermophysical properties adjacent,we propose a novel computation scheme. The numerical simulation tests show that our proposed is more accurate over previous methods. After the validations of our proposed method by a few numerical simulation tests, the computation flow chart for modeling water flow and solute transport in porous media is given, finally, which is believed a necessary step forward for editing a groundwater simulation software.
