Land is the material carrier for human survival and development, which provides the basic material data for the production and life of human beings. With the development of economic and social, and the rapid development of the city, the original land use and ecological pattern have changed dramatically, which has a great impact on the urban ecological environment. The surface temperature difference, which caused by the land use, is one of the main reasons causing city heat island, and has a great influence on the city ecological environment and the regional climate. Jincheng District area is the center of the politics, economy, culture and logistics in Jincheng. The urban construction continues to expand and the arable land continues to decline. So land use pattern has undergone tremendous changes, and urban ecological problems have become increasing prominent. Therefore, research on the relationship between land use and surface temperature in Jincheng district area, and form the perspective of improving the urban thermal environment, we can put forward the countermeasures and suggestions for the land rational utilization in Jincheng city, which can provide reference for the sustainable development of the region.This paper takes Jincheng district area as the study area. First of all, using the ENVI, ArcGIS and Fragstats software and on the basis of Landsat TM image preprocessing, unsupervised classification and combined with the landscape index methods, it analyses the status of land use on 2011 Jincheng district area. Secondly, the radiation heat conduction equation method was using to inverse the surface temperature, and then analysed the spatial distribution characteristics of urban surface temperature. Finally, the correlation research has three aspects, including the land use type, NDVI and land use pattern with the surface temperature. According to the results of this study, it put forward the countermeasures and suggestions to promote the rational land use in Jincheng City. The following conclusions are obtained through the research of this paper:(1)Between the land use in 2011,Jincheng district area:urban, industrial mining and rural residents land area>farmland>woodland>unused land area>water area>garden area. Arable land and urban, rural construction land occupied the largest area in land use type.(2)Affected by human activities and topography, the distribution of the same patches of urban, industrial mining, rural residents land is larger. The shape irregular of farmland, woodland and unused land has a higher degree. Water land is uniformly distributed with others. But urban, industrial mining, rural residents land is relatively evenly distributed with others. Except the urban, industrial mining, rural residents land, there are a number of small patches in other land types.(3)There are obvious "urban heat island" in Jincheng district area, which is mainly distributed in the central and northeastern part of Jincheng district area. The low temperature zone is mainly distributed in the northwest and the southwest. The land use type in main area and northeast is the urban, industrial mining, rural residents land. But, in northwest and southwest region, the land use types are woodland and unused land, whose land surface temperature is relatively low.(4)Different land use types have different influence on the surface temperature. The urban, industrial mining, rural residents land has an obvious heating effect and a significant role in the diffusion of "urban heat island". The woodland and water area has a good cooling effect and a significant role to alleviate the "urban heat island".In addition, land use layout will affect the spatial distribution of the surface temperature. If a land type area is larger, the heating or cooling effect will stronger. If the landscape type is rich, the surface temperature will be lower. If one land type adjoin others, the surface temperature will change.Therefore, under the premise of "sustainable development", the study area will improve the regional diversity of land use type, rationally plan the urban and rural construction land, increase the area of woodland, water and develop the potential of unused land in the future land use planning to relief the urban heat island effect and improve the regional climate.
