Coal geological exploration types reflect the characteristics of exploration methods, structures, economic policy and exploration experience in different geological prospecting conditions and historical periods. Dividing it not only contributes to rationally select exploration project density, economically divide mining conditions and each level of resources reserves, but also provides the necessary data for coal mine design or production.Geological structure complexity and coal seam stability are the main indexes to divide exploration types in the current coal, peat geological exploration norm. This paper is based on previous studies, analyzing the limitation of geological structure complexity, coal seam stability and quantitative division of exploration types. With collecting much of exploration data, proposing to use the comprehensive index method to establish index system and division standard, and combining with MATLAB language to establish the division model basing on fuzzy neural network method. To the coal seam stability, through analyzing the influencing factors of seam thickness and morphological change, the trend surface analysis is introduced into the mathematical statistics method, preferring to using trend-variation method to establish evaluation index system and standard, then calculating the weight with gray correlation analysis, using the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method to establish the division model.By studying geological structure and coal seam of occurrence regularity in Hua Ning and Xi Zuozi mine field, using the upper models to quantitative divide the geological structure complexity and coal seam stability, the result is simple and middle, which is consistent with the results of mine geology division type classification.
