Truss-cable nets structure is the basis of the ring tr uss antenna r eflector which shows the characteristics of great flexibility and nonlinearity. Truss-cable nets structure is sensitive to thermal loads and its dynamic performances are complex. Then, a research on the dynamic performances of truss-cable nets structure was developed. Firstly, the dynamic performances of the scaled prototype were studied by adopting simulation and experiments. Then, the conclusion was extended to the one of space thermal environment.A scaled prototype was desi gned according to the geometrical features and mechanical parameters of realistic structure. Static and dynamic analysis were carried out based on Platform of ANSYS. Then, a ground experiment was carried out whose results were used t o correct the finite element modal. In order to make further simulation and experimental study, the distributions of temperature field of the antenna and the scaled prototype were got from the thermal simulation based on the thermal analysis platform of NX 8.0. Dynamic behaviors of model prototype under given thermal environment were got through the simulation and experiments. The phenomenon of “thermal beats” was observed from the experiment and it explained the nonlinear dynamic behavior of truss cable nets structure effectively.
