Tidal current energy is being given more and more attention because it's a kind of energy which is clean, rich in content and easy to use. Blades are the key to the capturing of tidal current energy and it's hydrodynamic performances directly determine the efficiency of energy capture. At present, the design of tidal current energy conversion's blades mainly refer to the design of wind turbine blades because there is no fixed blade airfoil. The final performances of blades still need to be tested.In this paper, firstly, Betz theory, momentum blade theory and other theory are used to study the capture efficiency, the mechanical and dynamic performances of the blades. The mathematical model of energy capture, dynamic index and the limit value of blade capture efficiency are got. Besides, the method of calculating inducing factors is given and the relationship between blade force and angle of attack is deduced. On the basic of blade design, simulation analysis and numerical calculation are carried out on the hydrodynamic performance of the blade. The adjustment of the blade capture power is studied and the balance equation of adjustment of capture energy power is established.Secondly, the test method of hydrodynamic performance of the blade was studied, and the overall scheme of the experimental test system was constructed. The test system includes a towed making flow mechanism, energy capture mechanism, power transmission mechanism and a distributed test and control part based on wireless transmission. In order to effectively test the hydrodynamic performance of blade, the control program of making flow and the data acquisition and speed control part are designed. The specific methods of upper machine communicating with making flow system and data acquisition and the speed control part were studied.Finally, the experimental test system for blade is built according to the overall scheme of the experimental test system, and the system is used to test and research on the hydrodynamic performance of blade. The test result not only reveals the hydrodynamic performance of blade, at the same time, also shows that the test system can well work to test the hydrodynamic performance of blade. The expected design goal is achieved. And the hydrodynamic performance test system for blade can also test the performance of other blades. Experimental conditions for research on blade hydrodynamic performance and the design of blades are provided.
