The traditional methods for the research of blast-related issues included experimental method and numerical simulation method which is based on finite element or other numerical theory. Both of these methods have greatly promoted the level of scientific research and engineering applications about blast wave science, but these two methods are not good enough when they works on the fast calculation of blast wave effects in large scene. The traditional numerical simulation method requires a lots time to calculate the control equations, and the calculation time is based on the number of elements, the mesh size etc. In general three-dimensional problem cases, it always expends several hours or even days to compute and analyze. Experimental method maybe need more experimental time. But in some engineering cases, we must get the blast wave effects results in tens of seconds or several minutes. In fact, some foreign researchers and institutes have developed some methods for the fast calculations of blast wave effects, and some engineering software have been formed. But domestic research in this area is seldom, and we have no way to learn more about those foreign software. The main work of this paper is to apply the ray tracing method to the fast calculation of blast wave, while the virtual explosion source method was used to improve the efficiency of ray tracing. The virtual explosion source program of our paper can quickly calculate the two-dimensional and three-dimensional blast wave propagation problems, and the incident, reflection, diffraction and other processes of the blast wave can be simulated well in the complexity of the different computing scenarios, and the calculation time is within several seconds or a few minutes, also the calculation accuracy can satisfy the requirements of engineering calculations.
