Transformation between solid and liquid of materials refers to the transformation process between solid and fluid under the influence of external environment factors. The research methods transit from solid mechanics to fluid mechanics. It is involved in Heat Transfer Theory,Engineering Thermodynamics, Molecular Dynamics, Rheology and Condensed Matter Theory etc. The mechanism of transformation between solid and liquid is analyzed in this essay from the perspectives of ice water melting, metal melting and rheology of rock. A conclusion that the more various objects and environments are, the more complex the mechanisms are is drawn. It is resulted from multiphysics field coupling. Thus it is very important and worth of trying for us to do deep research on the study of transformation between solid and liquid of materials which is the theoretical basis of this project.This project should be done at a constant temperature, so we invented a transparent thermostat on our own. The incremental digital PID technology and pressure regulating technology are adopted for this thermostat. The results show that it can be better stabilize the temperature and can control the residuals between ?1 degrees Celsius. The experiment in transformation between solid and liquid is designed on this basis. The law about melting time and rate between temperature and specific area is tested and the proper empirical equations are obtained by using the MATLAB CFTOOL BOX. It is found that the temperature and specific area are both playing important roles in ice melting. They follow the power function with the relationship of ice melting. At last, the software FLUENT is used to simulate the process ofice melting. The variation tendency of liquid rate and temperature are examined.
