Endophytic fungus can produce various secondary matabolites with biological activities. Four fungi from different sources were chosen and fermented for chemically studied. By the means of chromatography and spectroscopy, 45 compounds were isolated and identified.1. 8 compounds were confirmed from the fermentation broth of Chaetomium sp. from fibrous roots of Schisandra glaucescens Diels, including 4 lignans, 2 steroids, 1 triterpene, 1 aliphatic compound. Then 11 compounds were confirmed from the solid-state fermented culture of the fungus, including 3 ligans, 2 polyketides, 2 aliphatic compounds, 1 sesquiterpene, 1 steroid, 1 phenolic compound and 1 compound with other type of skeleton. Among them, 1 compound possessed new skeleton.2. 9 compounds were confirmed from the solid-state fermented culture of Chaetomium brasillense Batista & Pontual from China Center for Type Culture Collection, including 6 phenolic compounds and 3 steroids.3. 16 compounds were confirmed from the fermentation broth of the endophytic fungus Aspergillus fumigatus from Coelarthrum boergesenii, including 8 alkaloids, 4 aliphatic compounds, 2 anthraquinones, 1 triterpene and 1 phenolic acid. 3 conpounds were confirmed from another endophytic fungus JCMAF29, including 1 steroid, 1 aliphatic compound and 1 phenolic compound.4. Research progress on secondary metabolites of endophytic fungi in medicinal plants from 2009 to 2015 were summarized.
