Electromagnetic compatibility is playing a more and more important role in today's scientific research and national defense. With the development of the electronic map technology, simulation analysis of electromagnetic field in real environment now has become the keystone of research in virtual battlefield.According to the development trend and application requirements of electronic map and electromagnetic compatibility analysis technology, this paper focuses on the technology of topographic information extraction and related applications based on electronic map.1) This paper studies the data format of electronic map, this paper puts forward a conveniently programmable method to read data, extracts the coordinates and elevation information, finishes 3d coordinate transformation and got the good display equality of 3d terrain using Open GL.2) For the automatic identification of terrain, This paper extracts multiple characteristic factors to complete the unsupervised fuzzy clustering using the fuzzy mathematics theory. Due to the lack of unified geomorphic classification standards, result determination has been added to the post-processing to complete the automation Identification method.3) According to the software requirements of EMC, this paper further simplifies the model of typical terrain by researching the tracing methods of typical terrain edge and terrain features.From what has been discussed above, this paper aims at the application of electronic map and puts forward automation solutions of reading map, extraction, simplification and visualization of terrain information. This method has been applied successfully on platform of VS2010.
