Nowadays, gravity prospecting is one of the indispensable technology in geophysical methods. With the improvement of technology and equipment, gravity prospecting plays an increasingly important role. In order to make the final results more accurately and completely express the underground(ore distribution) situation, and in the premise of minimize measurement errors and reducing the instrument error, the data's analysis and process becomes a particularly important job. Gravity anomaly is often superimposed by a varietyof geological factors in the actual production.When the anomalies caused by the exploration targets superimposed with the regional anomalies,not only local abnormal changes and extremely central location will more or less shifted. Therefore, before the geological interpretation, especially prior to the quantitative interpretation, we should process the superimposed exception and divided into the regional anomalies and local anomalies. After treatment, the useful exception information is prominent, and it will be highlighted. Abnormal separation(extraction) has been the problem of gravity data processing. In other words, that is extracted exception which is we need from the observed anomalies.This is the prerequisite condition of inverse calculation. Whether the target exception are extracted determine the reliability of the inversion results. It is because of the importance of the separation of abnormal. Over the years many geophysicists are committed to finding better anomaly separation method.With the experts' continuous research and learning, the method of local anomaly separation and extraction is continuous improvement. Extraction separation of local anomalies are constantly improving, new methods have been presented. In this paper, the cutting method in potential field extraction were studied and learned in detail, and made an improvement to it. In addition to contrast the before and improved cutting method, also studied the trend analysis, circumference method and the average field method. Then, we designed variety of models to simulate the geological conditions. Using the four methods above to do the extraction of potential field. The results are analyzed and compared, and the advantages and disadvantages of various methods are comprehensively interpreted. Finally, I use the improved cutting method and the trend analysis which is now be often used to do separation and extraction, the actual data was got somewhere in Tibet. Contrastive analysis the extraction effect, and make a comprehensive analysis to it.
