Tidal channels, also called tidal inlets, are connecting with the bay, the lagoon or the estuary, which are located in the world's some coast. Tidal inlets are also important port resources and have great value in the navigation and the tourism leisure, so people pay attention to the study of tidal inlets.A numerical model of the evolution of tidal inlets, including hydrodynamics, sediment transport and topographic evolution three parts, is established in this paper. The model uses the ADI scheme to solve the hydrodynamic equations and the sediment transport equations and uses WENO scheme to solve the topographic evolution equation. The model in this paper is verified the correctness by contrasting with Mike21 numerical solution in hydrodynamic, analytical solution in sediment transport and the previous simulation results in topographic evolution. This paper researches some factors that affect the topographic evolution in tidal inlets and analyzes these factors'specific impact. These factors include:the bed sediment, the suspended sediment, sediment transport equation, sediment grain size, tide amplitude. This paper uses the wet-dry boundary and the topographic factor to simulate the example of Wadden Sea which is established by Marciano et al, and the results show that this model can achieve the long-term simulation of the Wadden Sea. This paper analyzes the evolution results using different transport equations through comparing the Roelvink's example. This model is used to simulate the tidal inlet in Jiaozhou Bay and some preliminary results are obtained.
