Drought happens frequently in recent years, which influences the balance of ecological environment, social and economic sustainable development seriously and brings great losses to the agricultural production and national lives. The domestic and foreign research status and problems of monitoring drought by remote sensing are analyzed in this paper, on the basis of these analyses, this paper selects Xinzheng in Henan province as research area, uses multi-source data, contrastive analysis a variety of drought monitoring model, finally determines suitable drought monitoring model for the study area. The main contents are as follows:(1) Making use of three meteorological drought indexes of precipitation anomaly percentage, precipitation standardized variables, and moisture index with TRMM3B43 rainfall data from 1998 to 2007 to obtain drought conditions in the study area.(2) Using time-series SPOT-VEGETATION NDVI data from 1998 to 2007 and monitoring drought by NDVI, AVI, VCI.(3) Using Landsat TM data and meteorological data every year in June from 2000-2011 to calculate the surface temperature and vegetation index. Evaluate the model to find a suitable monitoring model.(4) Combined with the classification of remote sensing image data of the study area in 2011 to analyze the distribution of different land use types of drought.(5) Using the correlation matrix to analyze the consistency of drought index, Through comprehensive analysis of the correlation between the drought index to select objective and reasonable drought monitoring index for Xinzheng.
