Atalantia buxifolia (Poir.) Oliv. is an evergreen shrub or a tree which belongs to Rutaceae Atalantia. Hainan folk uses the plant treating influenza, cough, malaria, stomachache, and its medicinal parts of root. Previous studies showed that, Atalantia buxifolia roots contain chinaberry alkane type drop three terpenoids and acridone alkaloids, the former has insect antifeedant activity, the latter with tumor cytotoxic activity. In order to develop and effectively utilize Atalantia buxifolia plant resources, chemical constituents and biological activities of oAtalantia buxifolia branches were studied.Sixteen compounds were isolated from the ethanol extract of the roots of A. buxifolia by column chromatography, and their structures were identified by physicochemical and spectroscopic methods (including MS, IR, UV, 1D and 2D-NMR, etc. as 3-methoxy-1,4,5-trihydroxy-10-methylacridone (1),2,3-dimethoxy-1,4,5-trihydroxy-10-methylacridone (2), 1,3,5-Trihydroxy-10-methyl-9-acridinone (3),1,5,6-Trihydroxy-3-mthoxy-10-methyl-9-acridinone (4), Glycofolinine (5), Glycosparvarine (6),5-Hydroxyarborinine(7), Atalafoline (8), Acronine(9), Atalantoflavone (10), Atalaphylline(11), Atalafoline B (12), helebelicine-B (13), Buxifoliadine-H(14),p-Hydroxyphenylethanol (15), Daucosterol (16).Compound 1 and 2 were new acridone alkaloids. Compounds 3 to 8 were isolated from the branches of A. buxifolia for the first time.Compounds 12 and 7 exhibited significant antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus (SA)..Compound 1 and 2 exhibited weak inhibitory effect on acetyl cholinesterase (AChE).. |
