Stimulated Brillouin scattering is very useful for security of high power laser system, and research on nanosecond pulse and picosecond pulse is taken seriously, so this article is going to study optical limiting based on stimulated Brillouin scattering with pump of nanosecond pulse and picosecond pulse. Including two fields:the optical limiting of output energy based on stimulated Brillouin scattering and the optical limiting wave form based on stimulated Brillouin scattering.At first, on the basis of SBS theory matrix, this article is going to study the variety of power and output wave form based on power of pump, focal length of optical lens and different medium. And find flat-top wave form during to the theory analysis.When pump pulse is of8nanoseconds, at first, simulate the output characteristic of energy of optical limiting based on stimulated Brillouin scattering. And then, turn pulse width and focal length of lens, measure the variation of output characteristic and wave form. And next, we are going to do experiment on optical limiting based on stimulated Brillouin scattering. Experimental results are well accorded with the theory analysis.When pump pulse is of800picoseconds, research on optical limiting of output energy and output wave form is launched with variety of power of pump, focal length of optical lens and medium. And taking advantage of Stokes pulse of800picoseconds as pump pulse, study the effect of optical limiting based on stimulated Brillouin scattering.
