During February2013to January2014,48water samples were collected fromsix sites to study the ciliate community characteristics and the water quality in thebasin of the Heihe River. The results were as following:1. Ciliate community characteristics in the basin of Heihe River:(1) A total of103ciliate species were identified(including23unnamedspecies)?belonging to8classes,15orders,33families and44genera based on thetaxonomic system of Lynn2008. Among the ciliate community, Haptorida wasdominant group, with dominance of15.5%, Prorodontida was the secondary group,with dominance were13.6%, Cyrtolophosidida, Nassulida, Synhymeniida andHeterotrichida were rare among the community.(2) The ciliate species number changes as follows: spring,6#>5#>3#>4#>2#>1#; summer,6#>5#>3#>4#>2#>1#; autumn,6#>3#>5#>2#>4#>1#; winter,6#>5#>3#>4#>2#>1#.(3) The diversity index of ciliates changes as follows: spring,1#>3#>5#>4#>6#>2#; summer,1#>3#>4#>2#>5#>6#; autumn,1#>3#>2#>4#>6#>5#; winter,1#>4#>3#>2#>5#>6#.(4) The correlation analysis and principal component analysis on the ciliatecommunity characteristics and the physical and chemical found the two result hadhas significant correlation, indicated that the ciliate community is affected by somedifferent environmental factors.2. The assessment of water quality on the basin of Heihe River.(1) Based on the analysis of physical and chemical factor, the water quality ofHeihe River is in moderate pollution state, and trend to be serious from sample1tosample6, during which, sample1is the best?sample6is the worst.(2) The bioassessment of water quality in the basin of the Heihe River is based onthe Shannon-wiener index, Margalef index, Pielou index and Pantle-Buck index. Theresult showed that the water quality of Heihe River is in moderate pollution state. Thewater quality in spring and winter is much better than that of summer and autumn; thewater quality in Yingluoxia sites is clean water and light pollution, Gaoya is light pollutionand pollution, Zhengyixia to Dongjuyanhai are moderate pollution. The evaluation result isconsistent with the water physical and chemical indicators of the evaluation results, according with the actual situation of the constant along the river is polluted.
