The Wagner-Whitin property is a famous theory to solve single machine scheduling problem. GA( Genetic Algorithm) is proposed for the single machine, scheduling problem in the sequence dependent setup time environment within a fixed planning horizon. This paper combines two theories and analyze single machine, three products with dynamic scheduling. Base on quantitative analysis, use Wagner-Whitin property to set up single product program,analysis the impact of holding cost ,setup cost and total cost with dynamic rolling schedule. Then expand to another two products and get optimize schedule. The minimum cost is the balance point for change over. This way can be used for operation management, improve the utilization of high capacity machine. It’s very useful for reducing inventory and it’s a good way to improve flexible machine.This theory has been applied in the plant. Results show that the inventory has been dramatically reduced. And it will be much easy modify schedules and instruct change over. Significant benefits for operation running have been achieved.
