Leaders often want employees to give voice because employee voice plays an important role in correcting mistakes in organization. Whether an employee will give voice or not largely depends on the results. In this research, we will investigate the effects of employee promotive voice and employee prohibitive voice on Leader-Member Exchange(LMX). Although there have been lots of studies about the voice, no research has explored the effect of employee voice on LMX. Meanwhile, we know that leaders are very important to employee voice. As we all know, authoritarian leadership is popular in eastern society, and the connotation of authoritarian leadership has been updated. We reach to research gaps and get our research contents through literature review. We tend to explore the effects of promotive voice and prohibitive voice on Leader-Member Exchange(LMX), and we introduce authoritarian leadership as moderator. Based on Leader-Member Exchange theory, we build our research model and develop four hypotheses. We use questionnaires to collect data, and all scales adopted in this research are from authoritative journals. We effectively receive questionnaires from nursing groups of three big hospitals, including 48 head nurses and 330 nurses. Then we use software SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 17.0 to do data reliability and validity analysis, and we use regression analysis to verify our four hypotheses.According to research results, we can get conclusions: employee promotive voice is positively related with LMX; employee prohibitive voice is positively related with LMX; authoritarian leadership moderates the relationship between employee promotive voice and LMX that when authoritarian leadership becomes higher, the positive relationship becomes stronger; authoritarian leadership moderates the relationship between employee prohibitive voice and LMX that when authoritarian leadership becomes higher, the positive relationship becomes stronger. Additionally, when the level of authoritarian leadership is fixed, employee promotive voice is more likely than employee prohibitive voice to lead to higher-quality LMX.
