China plays an increasingly significant role in international trade as well as the world economy. Participating in the international cooperation and actively developing the international trade is an inevitable choice of China’s development. The competition and cooperation in the field of oil trade between China and its neighboring country Japan accounts an important part in running their bilateral strategic partnership and maintaining the stability in the Asia-Pacific region.The thesis introduces the distribution of oil resources in the two countries respectively, the oil supply and demand situation as well as the structure characteristics of oil distribution between the two countries based on the world economic situation.The main performance and economic and political reasons of the oil trade competition between China and Japan will be analyzed in thesis. The author uses the trade data of SITC classification of two digits between the two countries during the years of 1983-2013 to analyze the motivation of China’s international competitiveness of oil product. Besides, the thesis performs analysis in depth in the field of energy cooperation between China and Russia, and whether it would affect the relationship between China and Japan, brings the international relations to tension factor, and the cooperation pattern will be able to promote the development of energy trade between China and Japan in a long term of view.This article comes to a conclusion through the empirical analysis that the energy cooperation between China and Japan shares mutual benefit on the development of energy industry in both countries. It strengthens the status of bilateral strategic partner, at the same time, also stimulates the energy trade development among the other relationships such as China and South Korea, and Russia, It also has a positive impact to the peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region.
