Research On The Performance Evaluation Of The Logistics Industry Listed Companies In China

At present, the international economy is still at the stage of adjustment after the economic crisis, the world economy is still showing weak recovery trend; domestic economic growth gradually slows down from sustained high growth in the past transformed into medium-high growth, the mode of economic development gradually from the extensive scale-speed growth to intensive growth of quality efficiency. Therefore, the development of China’s logistics industry has put forward higher requirements and challenges, it needs to take the appropriate strategies according to their own characteristics and economic changes in order to better play its fundamental and strategic position in national economic development. The logistics industry listed companies as the backbone of the industry, through the performance evaluation of the whole and different types of logistics industry listed companies, it will not only help enterprises to recognize their own operating level and adjust the management policy timely according to the changes of the environment; but also able to get a glimpse of the level of development of the logistics industry, so as to provide reference for the transformation of the logistics industry.Firstly, this paper describes the background of the topic and the significance of the study, summarizes the research status of performance evaluation home and abroad. Secondly, this paper defines the related concepts of the performance evaluation of logistics industry listed companies and expounds the theoretical basis of the performance evaluation. On this base, this paper establishes the evaluation index system from the view of enterprise’s input and output combined with the relevant scholars’ research and my point. Secondly, the paper introduces and comparatively analysises the common methods of performance evaluation. Then,the paper selects data envelopment analysis(DEA) method which is suitable for multi-input and multi-output to evaluate the performance of 40 logistics industry listed company from terms of technical efficiency, pure technical efficiency, scale efficiency and scale benefit. It also improves the input and output situation. Then the paper has drawed some relevant conclusions.(1) The holistic performance of the logistics industry listed companies from 2011 to 2014 is good, but there is still room for improment. It needs to be improved from pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency.(2) To different types of logistics industry listed company, the integrated logistics enterprises’ performance expression is best, transportation logistics enterprises’ performance expression is worst.(3) Most of the logistics industry listed companies are in the increasing state of scale returns. They can achieve a better performance through the scale adjustment.(4) There are inputs redundancy of the number of employees, management expenses and fixed assets in part of the logistics industry listed companies; earnings per share and net profits are insufficient. Last, According to the results of the performance evaluation to Chinese logistics industry listed companies, the paper has proposed some countermeasures and suggestions.(1) Optimize the allocation of resources and reasonably adjust the size of enterprises.(2) Increase the investment of science and technology and strengthen the technological innovation.(3) Change the management concept and vigorously develop the integrated logistics service.(4) Follow the "Internet plus" trend and promote the transformation and upgrading of companies.
