Research On The Method Of Patent Value Evaluation Based On The Theory Of Returns Of Assect (ROA)

Patent, as the most important part of intellectual property rights, is an important weapon to create core competitiveness, market share and gain economic profits. The most important means to make patent a powerful weapon for economic development is to transform patent technology into production which create value for enterprise and society. Currently, the patent including the generation, transformation, management and protection four stages is only transformed and invested in production which is put on the market to achieve its value. The evaluation of patent value is an indispensable part of patent investment, patent technology implementation and transfer transactions. Lay the patent value assessment on the basis of the traditional valuation methods of the patent, new type of patent value assessment methods, such that the real option method in the traditional assessment methods have improved, play a vital role in the assessment of the value.But to some extent, there are some defects. The appropriate method of patent value evaluation can make the patent value be recognized by both parties, and promote the process of patent industrialization to promote the economic value and social benefit of the patent.This paper elaborates the current development of patent value evaluation theory at home and abroad and analyzes the current situation of its development. Next the related theories of patent and patent value assessment is introduced. Then, it introduces three traditional methods of patent evaluation and new patent evaluation method—the real option method; then the theoretical evaluation reference of foreign scholars Lee proposed patent value, establish return of assets(ROA) model to assess the value of the patent, the patent value model will be divided into three parts including technology value, legal value and market value, and evaluates the three part of the value respectively,then use the regression coefficients to calculate the final the value of patent. Finally, this paper chooses the case of G company’s "seawater desalination device" for the value assessment of the patent.The results of the assessment provides reference to investors or decision-makers.Based on the theory of return of assets (ROA) patent value assessment model, traditional method and real options method is used to evaluate the value of the patent.From the patent technology value, legal value and the market value of the three aspects of patent value is assessed.It is aimed at offering a new idea for patent value of scientific evaluation methods, as well as providing methods of the value investment and decision of a new pricing to the owner of the patent technology.
