Research On The Influence Of Multi-National Corporations On China’s Seed Industrial Competitiveness

Seed industry not only affects the rapid growth of modern agriculture, but also plays an important role in maintaining the industrial security of agriculture. Enhancing the competitiveness of China’s seed industry is beneficial to improve Chinese competitive position in global seed market, to promote the development of seed industry, as well as to maintain the security of China’s agriculture. In the process of developing China’s seed industry competitiveness, the closer relationship multinational companies have between China’s seed industry market, the more influence will they make on China’s seed industry competitiveness. In order to enhance China’s seed industrial competitiveness rapidly, it is worth studying thoroughly to explain how to exert the promoting effect of MNEs and reduce impeding forces.This paper combines qualitative analysis with quantitative analysis, to analyze the influence of multinational corporations on China’s seed industrial competitiveness. Firstly, the influence analysis includes three parts, which are influencing factors, influence mechanism and impacting effect. Secondly, build an index system to appraisal competitiveness, including import and export situation, IMS index, seed enterprise competitiveness and so on. These trends will be compare with multinational corporations’trend of activity in China, so as to confirm the relationship between multinational corporations and seed industry competitiveness. Thirdly, take maize seed industry as an example, to analyze the effect of multinational corporations on maize seed industry competitiveness. The results verify all conclusions above. Finally, make a conclusion, and put forward some specific suggestions.Innovations of this paper are as follows. First of all, the past studies on seed industry competitiveness seldom take multinational corporations into consideration. However, multinational corporations, which cannot be ignored any more, become more and more important in this area. This paper just fills the gap. Second, in terms of seed industry, multinational corporations just begin in-depth cooperation with Chinese companies in recent years. What is more, the effects need a period of time to reflect. As a result, past studies have a short-term result, which may not be very accurate. This paper has expanded the time range, so it can get more accurate analysis results, making results more close to the truth. Third, this paper take maize seed industry as an example, making the analysis more intuitive and more realistic.
