Since the 1990 s, with the further development of reform and opening-up, a large number of foreign retail giants have entered the Chinese market. Although they have promoted the prosperity of the Chinese retail market, they have also intensified the competition between foreign retail enterprises and local retail brands. With the rapid developing of electronic commerce industry, consumers are faced with many choices of purchase, the products have also been given more meaning. The offline retail enterprises are in an unprecedented predicament. In such a critical period of transition, consumer purchase decisions have an important influence on the inventory of retail industry in the new era. Retail enterprises how to adjust their inventory management to adapt to the changing of consumer purchase decisions, research on this problem has an important significance for the retail enterprises to meet consumers demand, and it also have a great impact on the coordination and stability of supply chain.At present, the order management of the retail products is very difficult, and the retail goods of out of stock and unsalable are very much. The above two points are the main problems of inventory management in retail industry. The writing background of this paper is retail industry, and research object is the consumers of retail industry. With the theory of consumer behavior and the inventory management, this paper research on inventory optimization of retail industry from the perspective of consumer purchase decision. First of all, according to the actual circumstance of retail industry, analysis of the consumer purchase decisions in the current retail industry. Designing, distribution and recycling the questionnaire of the retail consumer purchasing decisions and consumer inventory sensitivity. In this paper, the data of 386 questionnaires were used as the sample data of consumer behavior of retail industry. Next, using statistical analysis software SPSS21.0, the result of descriptive statistics, reliability texts and validity tests are concluded. On the basis of this, using the structural equation theory and method, the path coefficient of the model were calculated and the model was corrected by using software AMOS17.0, and determining the relationship between consumer commodity quality preference, consumer commodity price preference, consumer commodity convenience preference, consumption environment, information environment and consumer inventory sensitivity. The corrected results show that consumers’ sensitivity of inventory are negatively related to their quality preference, and positively related to their price preference and convenience preference, consumers will strengthen their sensitivity of inventory with the strengthen of information environment cognition and market consumption environment cognition. Finally, this paper puts forward the constructive suggestions for the inventory management of retail industry from the perspective of supply chain.To sum up, through the analysis of the correlation between the consumer’s purchase decisions and the consumer’s inventory sensitivity, this paper puts forward suggestions to improve the inventory optimization of the retail industry, which can make retail industry further strengthen their inventory management in the circumstance of demand fluctuation and strengthen the production management of supply chain in the case of demand-pull.
