Research On Expanding Trade Volume Of Cassava Products Between Thailand And China

Thailand being a big agricultural country, with its important position in the social and economic structure. Cassava is one of the main agricultural products in Thailand, although Thailand is not the world’s largest producer of cassava, but Thailand is one of the world’s largest exporter of cassava products. Cassava is a tropical root crops, most cassava planting area is in the northeast, followed by the central and northern of Thailand. By 2014, cassava production capacity in Thailand was around 31.24 million tons, the total export volume of cassava reached 6,800,300 tons, accounting to 98.32% of the world’s total exports of cassava. Thailand main export market is China. Presently, with the fierce competition of cassava industry in china, Thailand still has a comparative advantage, but Thailand for to enhance and continue to maintain Thailand cassava trade in the Chinese market has an important significance in expanding trade of cassava trade.Through this analysis, we can see the advantage of low cost production of cassava industry in Thailand and Thai cassava production; from the world production and trade, export volume and export quotas, we discuss the comparative advantage of Thailand cassava products with analysis to discuss the Thai cassava trade with the development of space to further expansion. By Using SWOT to analyze the competitive position of Thailand cassava products in the international market, and using of trade competitive advantage index to reveal comparative advantage index and international market share, etc. analyzing the international competitiveness of Thailand cassava quantitatively, and putting forward the policy suggestions of expanding the trade competitive advantage of Thailand cassava. With the effective development of China Thai Trade in cassava production, Thailand cassava products shows more comparative advantage, and access to the bonus of zero tariff of China-Thai trade, it solve the employment issue in Thailand and increases foreign exchange earnings, and also contribute in the development of Thai’s economy.
