Does Wage Impact Working Effectiveness? Analysis The Difference Of Wage Between State And Non-state Enterprise In Vietnam

Abstract/Summary:
Vietnam with poorly economic are gradually develops. Significant contribution in that process, there are the roles of State enterprise in the executive management of employment, economic,social. Besides the economic contribution of the state enterprises, these enterprises also have a leading role to lead the non- state enterprises development。However the alarming reality is that the current performance of these state enterprises is still poorly. Most recently, a series of bankruptcies, losses of State companies are significant impact on the economy. Meanwhile, the wages policy of public financial sector also heavily formalism.The wages in the State sector is lower than the Non- State sector. It is considered as a social paradox in Vietnam. Does the low wages one of the causes of poor quality efficient operation of State sector? That is the reason this subject was chosen. The aim of the thesis is to show that wages have an impact on work efficiency of employees.In order to achieve this goal, This thesis collects data from 117 businesses and the process of analysis was conducted as follows: The first: analyze the impact of wage on working efficiency of employees. Through the collection of average monthly wages per employee and average monthly output products per employee of about 29 garment enterprises. Thought we find the relevant wages and output products, establish the regression equation。The result show that: about 69 % of the total sample has the linear relationship between per capital output and per capital wage, which confirm that the average monthly wage of each worker has an impact on output produce, or we can say that the wages affect to working effectiveness. The next: compare the differences of wage between state enterprise and non- state enterprise in the same industry: The research annalysis the different about wage system in state enterprise and wage system in non enterprise, beside that it also compared minimum wage, average wage of two kinds enterprise. The research show that: wage system in enterprise is more complex than wage system in enterprise, and the state pay lower wages of private enterprises. Because it’s difficult to gather average out put of 88 enterprises, so i use ROE, ROA represent for working effectiveness. After that, the thesis also compared ROE, ROA in state enterprise and non state enterprise and find the correlation coefficient between ROE/ROA and wage. The thesis uses data of many state enterprises and non-state enterprises, these enterprises are divided according to each different lines of business to facilitate the comparison of business results, specifically the author consider only three lines: publishing business, food business and construction business. To ensure objectivity, in each business sector will collect about over 30 enterprise samples. However, because of the difficulty of access to data should the thesis just the insights from the results of the three lines of business, and it can’t encompass the overall visual look of the whole economy. In the future, I will continue to study this issue more deeply with a more fully data set.And in fact the thesis research showed that wages policy in the nonstate enterprise sector are better than in state enterprise(good policy, consistent with the employee, good regime, good incentive to attract more talent...), the minimum wage and the average wage of non-state enterprises also higher than state enterprises. Simultaneously, the working efficiency of the non-state enterprises also higher working efficiency of state enterprises. By a visual look, we can see that wages have relationships with effective work. However, to more clear, author considers the correlation relationship between wages and working efficiency(using business results instead of correlation relationship between wages and working efficiency, specifically used two financial ratio: ROA and ROE). The analysis results show that wages have an impact on work efficiency, so the aim of the thesis was proved.This thesis also shows clearly that the actual situation on wages in the state enterprise sector in Vietnam. The fact that wages are very low in this sector, this partly explains the business situation less effective as evidenced by the series of negotiations, dissolution, numerous mistakes in business Vietnam was published in the journalism. And that is entirely consistent with the motivation theory of Maslow(1943), Herzberg(19688)… According to “Motivation theories”, wage was considered one of the motivations to be employees work efficiency. So, the low wage in state enterprise is one of cause of operational inefficiency in state enterprise. Therefore, Viet Nam needs a new wage reform for officials in State sector and this should be considered as a breakthrough in the reform agenda of the national administrative.
