Study On Intelligent Development Strategy Of Passenger Car In FAW Group

With advances in technology and social development, green cars and energy efficient cars have become a major trend in today’s vehicle development. The future cars will make a breakthrough in tackling traffic congestion and safety issues.Since the 1980 s, the intelligent control theory and technology has been increasingly more applied in transportation engineering, information fusion technology has made considerable progress and widely used in target detection, tactical warning and defense systems, robotics, remote sensing, navigation and guidance. In this context,the concept of intelligent car is raised, which represents high-tech intensive products and will be the mainstream automotive replacements. This has lead to a trend to study intelligent vehicles worldwide and the focuses are intelligent car information systems,control systems, network environmental and intelligent architecture. The research will make cars "smart", and enable active interaction among car, pedestrian and road. It will also fundamentally change the technology and system for information acquisition and processing, information exchange, navigation and positioning, vehicle control,vehicle safety, making the car more human friendly, comfort and individual to reduce driver’s burden and fatigue. This will help improve road safety if combined with the urban traffic control system to achieve a proper distribution of traffic flow, ultimately a autonomous driving. Driving intelligent car can greatly reduce traffic accidents caused by the driver’s negligence, to improve traffic safety.China FAW Group, as the automotive industry leader in China, should go along with the trend to upgrade and accelerate its intelligent vehicle research with the established technical resources. This paper used strategic management theory and literature analysis and the author read a lot of documents about corporate strategy and intelligent cars, referenced to many strategic management theory, practice and papers.The author also conducted investigations in FAW R&D Center, FAW Car Companyand FAW New Energy Company to collect information and data, to study the status of intelligent technology and products in FAW Group. With above analysis, the problems and its reasons behind FAW intelligent car are figured out, which provide support and reference for the development of future strategies.The SWOT analysis is used to study the opportunities and challenges exist in its external and internal environment. Its competitors’ intelligent products and strategies are also analyzed, which provides a basis for FAW Group to establish the competitive strategy in line with its status and future development.
