Small and medium enterprises are important force to promote China’s economic growth. They play an important role in absorbing labor employment, increasing tax revenue and building a harmonious society. According to related statistics, small and medium enterprises accounted for 99% of the total number of enterprises. They provide 80% of urban jobs, contributing more than 60% of China’s GDP and more than 50% of China’s tax revenue. SMEs have made important contributions in China’s economic development.In post financial crisis era, the development of international trade is in a slump. Trade protectionism in Europe and other developed countries is on the rise. With the RMB appreciation, rising raw material prices, rising labor costs and other factors, China’s traditional foreign trade enterprises are into a crisis of survival. With the development of information technology, the trend of global integration is deepening. Depending on the advantages of high efficiency、low cost、high interactivity and transactions across time and space, E-commerce has injected new vitality in the field of international trade.With more than 60% of the dependence on foreign trade, Yiwu is a big foreign trade city in Zhejiang Province. At present, small and medium sized foreign trade enterprises are still in the form of the traditional family-based workshops in Yiwu. There is fierce competition among homogeneous products, and profit margins have been severely compressed. In order to seek the healthy and sustainable development in era--internet economy, small and medium sized foreign trade enterprises in Yiwu must change the way of trade growth.Based on e-commerce value chain theory, collaborative commerce theory and transaction cost theory, this paper describes the e-commerce application in China’s small and medium sized foreign trade enterprises as well as the overview of e-commerce in yiwu’s small and medium sized foreign trade enterprises. Through questionnaire and interview, this paper seeks to understand the application of e-commerce in yiwu’s small and medium sized foreign trade enterprises. The research shows that the application of e-commerce is still in its infancy in Yiwu. In addition, the foreign trade environment of e-commerce is not perfect. Finally, according to constraints, this paper put forward targeted suggestions and build a development model of e-commerce in yiwu’s small and medium sized foreign trade enterprises.The small and medium sized foreign trade enterprise in Yiwu is a typical representative of China’s traditional foreign trade. Through this analysis, this paper hopes to provide some reference value for China’s small and medium sized foreign trade enterprises.
