Many countries well-known appliance enterprises and local domestic appliance companies in China set up a production base of household appliance industry with the continuous development of the domestic appliance market demand. Household appliance manufacturing industry has entered the competition stage of core-technology after experienced production competition, quality competition, marketing competition and regulatory competition stage. The core-technology, as the key to develop new products becomes the forefront of the industry chain and a vital part. Appliance manufacturing R & D projects has short development cycle, fast generation replacement, technical difficulty, serious market risk, rapid changes in demand and other characteristics. The project will be risked when it encounter many various problems in the implementation process of the project from the consequences of project cost, schedule delays, and even make the project failed to reach the goals. Thus, in terms of R & D projects for appliance manufacturing, risk management is also important.This article deeply introduced the background of developing VG100 window cleaner, indicated the necessity of VG100 window cleaning new product development, analyzed the case of F Company’s window cleaner VG100 R & D project from risk management point of view, based on the background of F Company R&D process and window cleaner appliance market environment. Identify the project risks of cost, schedule, product design, quality control and supplier management from different phase on F company develop process by means of Brian storming, fish bone methods. Weight and assess the identified key risks with methods of Risk matrix, AHP, and calculate the overall risk weight and define the risk level of whole project. Finally, analyze the causes of every key risks and work out a risk response solution plan in the theory after discuss the key risks one by one, Provide a solid theoretical foundation for the application of risk control F’s VG100 project to ensure the smooth implementation of the project. Define the appropriate solution for every key risk and work out the detailed response actions to maximum grantee the success of VG100 new product project. In addition, those analyses could contribute valuable experience for other new production development project in F Company in the future.
