In the 21 st century, the rapid development of science and technology as well as the explosive growth of information, makes the concept of outstanding leaders decide success or failure of an enterprise reveal shortcomings,followers has been playing an increasing important role in the enterprise.So in recent years, the researchers began to focus the study object on the followers and followership theory.Scholars have pointed out that followership has impact on job performance,but their mechanism of action is not clear.In this study, taking new generation employees as the research object,using independent samples T test on the 353 valid questionnaires,to explore the difference of the variables on the level of followership,to text whether the followership has effect on job performance and the mediating role of organizational commitment. Conclusions of the research are as follows:1.Using exploratory factor analysis and conformatory factor analysis(N=109),a two-factor model of followership was developed,the two-dimensional structure of followership has better goodness of fit in the confirmatory factor analysis. it includes active participation and their achievements.This indicated that the scale of followership still got ideal reliability and validity.2.The results of T-Test and ANOVA indicated that some demographic variables have influence on followership.Among them, followership has significant difference in age,length of service,highest education and position, but there was no significant difference in gender.3.Correlation results found out that followership and its dimensions have significant positive influence on organizational commitment and its two dimentions; followership and its dimensions have significant positive influence on job performance; organizational commitment and its dimensions have significant positive influence on work performance;4.Regreesion results found out that followership and its two dimentions is a significant predictor of organizational commitment and its three dimentions; followership and its two dimentions is a significant predictor of work performance and its two dimentions;Organizational commitment and its three dimentions is a significant predictor of work performance;5.Hierarchical regression found out that organizational commitment is the mediator between followership and job performance.Finally,this paper puts forward suggestions to help the level of followership of the new generations, in order to increase the employee’s job performance.
