A Study On The Index And Influences Of Intra-industry Trade In Services Between Sino-us Trade

With the development of economic globalization, trade in services is more and more important and the ratio of trade in services in total global trade continues to increase. Nowadays the competition of current international market has gradually turned to trade in services. At the same time, trade in services is the significant principle of measuring the level of the international competitiveness of a country. Therefore, China should keep up with the development of the world and enhance the competitiveness of trade in services. The United States is the most developed country in the world and the leading country in trade in services, so there are many experience of developing trade in services that we can learn. With the development of the international division of labor, international trade in services is transforming from inter-industry trade to intra-industry. Analyzing the level and the influences of intra-industry trade in services between Sino-US trade is very important for China to enhance its international competitiveness of trade in services.In the first part of this paper, we review the literatures relating intra-industry trade in services and introduce the basic concepts and theories.The second part of this paper is the analysis of the current situation of trade in services between U.S. and China from the point of entirety and different industries.The third part of this paper is the analysis of the level of intra-industry trade in services between U.S. and China. Using the G-L index, MIIT index, HIIT index and VIIT index, we find that the level of intra-industry trade in services between U.S. and China is quite high, and the level of intra-industry trade in services of different industries varies.The forth part of this paper is the empirical analysis of influences intra-industry trade in services. Results indicates that the opening degree, industrial structure variance, intensity ofgoods have positive correlation with China’s intra-industry trade in services respectively, while exchange rate has negative correlation. The difference of per capita income and foreign direct investment are insignificant.The last part of this paper is conclusion and suggestions. We make a brief conclusion and some suggestions in this section. At the same time, we point out the shortage and research prospect of this paper.
