Carbon Sink Fisheries And Seawater Shellfish Culture In China

The global environmental issues and climate issues had become increasingly serious. The development of low-carbon economy has become a strategy choice that national governments should do to combat climate change. And the core of development of low-carbon economy is to reduce the levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. In order to achieve this goal, we should take measures, energy-saving by industrial means and biological carbon sink for example, to store greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, that is to say. reducing emissions and increasing sinks are equally important.Tang Qisheng who is an academician of Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences once said, "currently, storing greenhouse gases by industrial methods means high cost, difficulty, while by biological carbon sink, means that it have a technically feasibility and low cost, moreover, we can benefit more. So, there is a special function and great potential during the development of low-carbon economy by biological carbon sink, especially it is of great significance for our national which is a developing county. In the low-carbon economy times, China who has a vast maritime territory, should develop carbon sink fisheries which take mariculture as a body, and seize high ground In blue-low-economy".In this study, we briefly described the two main functions of carbon sink fisheries. One is to build a marine ranching, the other is to promote economic development. As we all known, Development of carbon sinks fisheries is an important way to achieve a blue-low carbon economy, we can take lots of methods, such as enhancing carbon sink fisheries practices, strengthen international cooperation and strengthen the basic work, to promote the development of carbon sink fisheries.By summing up of the situation of marine shellfish aquaculture, we went deeply into the principle of the formation of carbon sinks, and detailed analysis and discussion have been taken for the function and strength of shellfish carbon sink. In conclusion, in this paper, on the basis of studying of problems about carbon sink in seawater shellfish culture, and based on the current situation of seawater shellfish culture and the development of carbon sink fisheries and the current situation carbon trading, at the same time, combined the formers’study, we analyzed and summarized the situation of shellfish carbon sink situation in China briefly, and we hope this can provide guidance and reference for the development of shellfish culture and carbon sink fisheries in China.
