Study On The Sustainable Forest Management Evaluation For Xianju Pingxi Forest Farm

Forest improves the ecological environment and maintains the ecological balance, which plays a vital role on human survival and development. Forest management is the eternal theme of modern forestry and sustainable forest management is a new topic in the process of human development. This paper analyses forest sustainable management of Pingxi Forest Farm, which based on the investigation of forest resources, and presents recommendations in order to promote the forest resources develop sustainably.The main constituent of forest resources in Pingxi Forest Farm are Pinus and Cunninghamia lanceolata. Pinus plantation takes up the most area and Cunninghamia lanceolata occupies the most stock. The distribution of age class is mainly young growth and half-mature. The growing of forest resources reserves exceed consumption, and forest resource grow sustainably. According to the evaluation index system of forest resources quality which based on the investigation of forest resource, the grade of Pingxi Forest Farm isⅡ,and the result shows credit. The reason is forest management measures are not enough, the trees were excessive felling, and the new afforestation was in immature forest land.By further analysis of sustainable forest management in Pingxi Forest Farm, there has a set of 30 indicators of evaluation index system of forest sustainable management. The index system is divided into four layers: the overall layer, the system layer, the state layer and the variable index layer. Based on the value of each index’s score, the overall value of each layer was calculated. The result shows that the forest resource of Pingxi Forest Farm was in weak sustainable development because of unreasonable structure of forest resource, the potential of resource utilization is not sufficient by poor management, and lack of the forest dynamic monitoring.Finally, the paper presents recommendations for the forest sustainable management of Pingxi Forest Farm in the future. Firstly, it is necessary to optimize the forest classified management, in order to maximize both the ecological benefits and the economic benefits. Secondly, it has to enhance forest cultivating and improve forest quality. Thirdly, it is important to further optimize and upgrade the industrial structure, promote forest sustainable development. Next, it is necessary to follow the FSC regulation, and establish FSC management system. Lastly, the paper points out the developments are based on the improvements and innovations of forestry science and technology.
