SWOT Analysis Of Walnut Industry Development In Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region

There are abundant light and heat resources in Southern Xinjiang region, with walnut production conditions be richly endowed by nature. In past decades, walnut production in Southern Xinjiang developed rapidly. At present, the scale of walnut industry of Xinjiang ranks second all over the country. Walnut cultivation has become a pillar industry to increase farmer’s income. With the scale continued expansion and production increase, several problems have just happened recently. It demands urgently to study how to develop walnut industry and explore the advantages and disadvantages of industrial development.At present, there are the following characteristics involving of walnut industry in Xinjiang Autonomous Region:1.The production scale increasingly expanded. Industry distribution highly centralized. Improved varieties developed rapidly. Yield and production value per unit area increased greatly.2. There are not many enterprises which engaged in processing enterprises of walnuts. The space of walnut processing is relatively broad.3. Sales volume of walnut of Xinjiang increased gradually and occupied dominant status over Chinese market. Therefore,there are the following problems regarding of walnut industry of Xinjiang: extensive management of cultivation, decentralized production, lower organization degree, deep processing of low level, lower value-added products, unorderly varieties and poor brand awareness.In addition, theoretical analysis of the walnut industry in Xinjiang was carried out using SWOT. The results indicated that there were following advantages of walnut industry: superior natural conditions, convenient location, rich variety resources and mature cultivation techniques of distinctive features. The disadvantages included that unreasonable production layout, lower level of application technique on fine seed and fine method. Standardization of quality production system is not perfect. From the perspective of the external environment condition, there was a good policy environment of walnut industry, a huge demand of processing, a great market. Of Course, walnut industry in Xinjiang are facing with increasingly fierce competition in the domestic and overseas markets.According to the above analysis, several policy suggestions were proposed:1. construct new thoughts involving of walnut industry by changing past ideas.2. improve farmers’ consciousness, add to investment in science and technology.3. improve the degree of organization, promote the industrialization strengthen construction of leading enterprises and brand, enhance the quality of walnut products。...
